The Eighth Street Orchestra offers 3 very unique education packages, bringing some of Canada’s finest musicians to your school to teach the next generation about the roots of Jazz, Blues, and even the popular music today!
THE Q&A MASTERCLASS
ESO has decades upon decades of accumulated experience in education through teaching students both in and out of schools, and travelling across the country giving clinics and masterclasses.
One of our favourite things to do is come in and put on a little private show for students, then chat about the music and the history! Engage your students with a unique and interactive musical experience!
LOUIS ARMSTRONG & THE HISTORY OF JAZZ
The Eighth Street Orchestra has the perfect, time-tested show to teach your students all about the history of jazz, and how it relates to the music of today! We explore the evolution of music from ragtime, through dixieland, to country & western, all the way up to modern pop music!
PRIVATE WORKSHOP
The Eighth Street Orchestra is committed to educating and supporting the next generation of musicians, just as our predecessors before us did, and theirs before them. Many of our members are accomplished educators both as private teachers and clinicians, and teachers in school programs and workshops. Bring the Eighths Street Orchestra in to work with your students directly, teaching them more about their instruments, and the roles their instruments play in music, and music plays in society. We will work with your students on three iconic selections of music from the history of jazz music, showing them how it feels to be part of the art culture in different eras from the past. It is an unforgettable experience that will change your students’ lives!
